Even News Corp and Yahoo! are describing an alternative bid as 'a long shot'
Yahoo should remain autonymous. To be worth 48 Billion (accurate or not its strong) They could use 25% of their buying power to aggregate next generation companies. They really have not bought anyone meaningful in a while. Yahoo has looked and felt the same since I can remember. I can remebr when Yahoo used Inktomi as search. Actually I am quite surprised of the 48B number. The search is so outdated that its embarrassing. They could give guys like me 50M and put them back in the seach business, the very foundation that allowed them to exisit. You cannot forgoe the foundation from which you came from.
I have more, but won't give alway all my ideas. DON'T SELL. Forget what they know. Rethink! Reform. and sell it for 100B. All of which could happen in 14 months. I have the plan, Yahoo, if you are interested.

Breaking news in the WSJ that Yahoo is talking to Time Warner. "The scenario under discussion would involve folding AOL into Yahoo with Time Warner taking a sizable minority stake in the combined entity, say the people familiar with the matter."
